Self-Worth among Teens: How to raise it & keep it!   Do you ever wish you could change something about yourself or your body? Do you ever feel unhappy with how you look? Do you ever feel that your self-esteem/Self-worth has taken a toll or you have lost motivation?   These I’m sure you will all agree with me are common thoughts that go through the mind of a teen.   Well then, it’s time to rethink and rewire our thoughts…   Ayn Rand once said ‘the man who does not value himself cannot value anything or anyone.’ The dictionary defines self-worth as the sense of one’s worth or value as a person.   So why is self-worth so important especially amongst teens? This understanding is critical, especially for teens, for a number of reasons. First, adolescents who think of themselves as valuable are more likely to be willing to try something new, to believe they can be successful and to set goals or have ambitions.         Make yourself a priority……. Self-care is all about the everyday habits that help you take care of and nurture your health and well-being. Self-care means really listening to your body, taking moments to check in, intentionally tuning in to the thoughts going on in your mind, and challenging your behaviors and belief systems if things feel out of alignment in your life. Recognizing the need for self -care  is one thing. Actually, adopting a self-care practice that can improve your life is another. It’s important to understand what is self-care and what isn’t.   Are you aware of your Emotional Health??   Emotional health (EH) is our capacity to express our feelings in appropriate ways and our ability to cope with various emotions. EH involves our ability to manage and express the emotions that arise from what we have experienced. The pandemic has wrought havoc on millions of lives, hit home hard for many of us and brought the world to its knees.  This is new for many generations living today - the last major such event being a 100 years ago.  Stress, anxiety and uncertainty have upended our lives. Fear of loss - material and mortal seems to hang over us likes a dark cloud.  Lockdowns, vaccination shortages and in your face print, TV and social media coverage is only increasing our sense of gloom.  However, in all this th...
Money Management Money Management as we all know is an important Life Skill. In my case Money Management seems more like a Life Kill- I am always running short of money, how does it come how does it go- I don’t know. On the lighter side I feel the only way to get out of this rut is if Modiji demonetized the entire currency. But I don’t want to give up and want to master this Life Skill. Let me start with a story that my husband Kailash loves telling all and sundry. Once upon a time there was a wise man with three sons. He called them one day and said Sons I am getting on in age and it is time for me to pass on my wealth to you as your inheritance. I have three things to give you Gold, Land and Wisdom. I will leave each of you to decide what you want amongst yourselves. The elder Son immediately said as the eldest I have the right to make the first choice and he chose Gold. Similarly, the second son said he has the next choice and so he chose land. The youngest son wh...
